REVIEWS FOR
'DON'T LOOK UNDER THE BED'

"A shining example of fantasy literature, with undertakes the additional risk of putting suspense and the inexpressible in the margin of the immediate, of what we see and touch every day. Juan Jose Millas returns to his old obsessions, to the study of the common-place from the perspective of the fantastic. He goes back to the closets, to the incalculable vacancies. And he establishes a new territory, the place where we hide the shoes before going to bed.

"There, under the bed, things happen, objects move with the same mental mechanisms and emotions as do human beings, in a world apart or parallel (as is the novel itself.) It involves the portrayal of an unknown zone, like those territories that Lovecraft outlined, a like the inaccessible attic of a phantom of the opera waiting to see the naked feet of his unattainable charmer. The whole book reads with an astonishing fluidity and naturalness, even though you are conscious that his organisms move on both sides of the mirror of fiction.

"They come in and go out of a book of which we are never quite sure whether we are reading it , or they are. Any literature which does not include a Don’t Look Under The Bed from time to time must be in a sorry state."
